CHAMPION'S SMASHING ATTACK MANN KNOCKED OUT NEW YORK, February 23. Joe Louis (14.4). knocked put Nathan Mann (13.114) in the third round of a 15-round title bout at Madison Square Garden. Louis was cautious in'the first, round, hut in the second opened up. He ! swarmed all over Mann,’a right to the head sending the latter to the floor for a count of nine. Louis was beating Mann unmercifully at the bell. Mann suffered terrific punishment in the third round, being down for a count i of three. Louis continued the savage l attack on his helpless opponent, finally; sending him down with a right to the jaw. ' The attendance was aproximately 20,000, most of whom cheered Mann. Boxing critics termed the contest the most savage tw.o-fisted onslaught in history.
