THE R.A.F. MACHINE DESIGNED FOB DEFENCE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 11. (Received February 12, at 8 a.m.) The machine which made a landplane record speed of 409 miles an hour was piloted by Squadron Leader Gillan. It was designed for the defence of Britain, not for record breaking.
