(Received February 11, at 8 a.m.) The Paris correspondent of the ‘ Daily Telegraph ’ says the Surete alleges that the Marquis de Portago, a friend of ex-King Alfonso, who was arrested at St. Jean, de Luz, was organising in Franco on behalf of the Spanish Nationalists a number of “ executions ” by microbe poisoning. The marquis, together’ with another Spaniard, Jesus Martin, were charged at Bayonne with forging passports. Martin is described as one of General Franco’s most active agents in France. Two other Spaniards have been arrested, all charged with breaking the French laws dealing with poisons. The Marquis de Portago was well known in London before the Franco rebellion. He afterwards established a London hotel bureau on behalf of the rebels. FORMALLY CHARGED LENGTHY QUESTIONING. , PARIS, February 10. (Received February 11, at 8 a.m.) The Marquis de Portago, Martin, and others were charged with a breach of tho law; relating to poisonous substances. After questioning lasting till the early hours of the morning, they were remanded in custody.
