GRAVE CHARGES

SUPREME COURT TRIAL When the trial of Thomas Auchterlonie Kerr on charges of attempting to commit rape; assault with intent to commit rape; attempting unlawfully to know carnally a female between the ages of 12' and 16 ; indecent assault on a female under the age of 16; and assault on a female was resumed in the Supreme Court before His Honour Mr Justice Kennedy yesterday afternoon, evidence was given by Constable William Southgate and by Detectivesergeant Thomas Young Hall. Detective-sergeant Hall read a statement by the accused in which he admitted being at the house, but denied the allegations made against him. Witness also produced photographs and other articles found in the accused’s home. This closed the case for the Crown, and after His Honour had heard legal argument concerning the admissability of certain evidence the court was adjourned till to-day.
