THE CAGOULARDS
RINGLEADER DISCOVERED CONFESSES AFTER THIRD DEGREE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, November 26. The Surete branded Eugene Deloncle as the ringleader and master mind of the Cagoulards, and General Duseigneur his chief assistant. It was believed that Deloncle was taken to the Surete handcuffed and unshaven. The police placed him in an armchair and put him through the third degree throughout the day and the night, after which he confessed. Duseigneur admitted that he was Deloncle’s right-hand man after 15 hours of unbroken gruelling. The Surete claims that their arrest reaches to the heart of the plot. The Cagoulards were organising an antiGommunist Putsch, and paid hundreds of thousands of francs to an Arab organisation, “ New Algeria,” to recruit North Africans. A Hotchkiss quickfirer, 13 machine guns, 256 grenades, 14,250 rounds of ammunition, and rifles were found in a cellar belonging to Pierre Parent, a Paris architect, who was arrested. Two thousand German cartrdiges, Mauser rifles, and English bullets were found in a chateau near Gambrai. The Mobile Guards have been doubled at the Ministry for the Interior. No person is allowed to enter without a passport. FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS PARIS, November 26. (Received November 27, at 10 a.m.) After hours under the third degree, Count Pozzo di Borgho, a former lieutenant of Colonel de ia Rocque’s Fascists, was arrested on a charge of associating with criminals. The Surete detectives are investigating the Csar plot. It is stated that General Duseigneur asserts that Count Borgho associated with him in the leadership of the Union of Defence Committees to suppress Communism. Deloncle, after his arrest, was taken to the Sante prison.
