ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
DROWNED UNDER WHARF.
While securing mussels under No. 3 wharf in Timaru Harbour yesterday afternoon a middle-aged man, George Taylor slipped and fell into the water. He did not come to the surface again, and his body was recovered by Harbour Board employees half an hour later* when life was pronounced extinct. COLLAPSE UNDER ANAESTHETIC* Mary Waaka, a Maori woman, aged 59, of Temuka, who was admitted to Timaru Hospital some time ago for an operation for goitre, collapsed and died while under an anaisthetic yesterday. ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL. When she fell on a footpath as ska was coming out of a shop Elinor Croot,an elderly woman, residing at 22 Car* narvon street, Belleknowes, fractured « femur. She was admitted l to the Hospital at 6.15 last evening. Thomas Short, married, living at 75 Glen road, was admitted to the Hospital at 6.15 last evening. He suffered head injuries when he fell on the pavement.
