WOMEN'S DOWLING
PHCNIX BEATS AWAMOA The first match of the season between the Awamoa and Phoenix (Oamarn) Ladies’ Bowling Clubs was played in perfect weather, and resulted in a win for the latter team by 80 points to 55. The match was played on the Phoenix green, and the president (Mrs Speid) extended a welcome to the visitors, Mrs Wright responding on behalf of the Awamoa Club. Results (Awamoa names first) :—Mesdames A. Brooker, G. Brooker, Rusbatch. Sorley 25, Miss Hilliker, Mesdames Weavers, Grenfell, Ashton 9; Miss Watson, Mesdames Murray, Stringer, Tomkins 5, Mesdames Milligan, Foster, Aikenhead, Adams 30; Mesdames Wright, Asher, Cowan. Stichman 16, Mesdames Freebury, Speid, Miss Symington, Mrs Berry 18; Mesdames Black, Stewart, Miss McCorkindale. Mrs Kennedy 10. Mesdames Watts, Taylor, Glass, Reid 23. Totals, Awamoa 55, Phoenix 80.
