BRIGAND’S HIDDEN TREASURE
According to a 1 Times ’ report from Lahore another' attempt will be made to locate the cave in which the brigand Bacha-i-Saqao, who_ had a brief reign as Ameerof Kabul in 1929, is supposed to have hidden a large treasure consisting of gold and precious stones, which he obtained by sacking certain towns and by fleecing Afghan traders before his downfall and defeat by Nadir Khan, afterwards King Nadir Shah. "When Bacha-i-Saqao was executed the secret died with him. All efforts to make him divulge the whereabouts of the hidden treasure were unavailing. The latest search is to be made by an American, Mr John Mackay Roberts, who is reported to have perfected a gold-divining device which he will use for the purpose. Bacha-i-Saqao seized Kabul and proclaimed himself Ameer Ghazi Hahibullah early in 1929 after the abdication of King Amanullah and the short reign of his brother, King Inayataullah. Bacha-i-Saqap was defeated a few months later by Nadir Khan and was executed in November, 1929.
