The “lie-down strike” has superseded the “ sit-down, strike.” Twentyfour pickets of a cafeteria in Seventh Avenue, in the heart of Manhattan, at lunch time Jinked arms and lay down on their backs on the sidewalk, blocking the entrance. A large crowd gathered, stopping the traffic. The “ liedown ” strikers refused to move and lacked the police, who lifted them and dumped them in patrol wagons.
