BAND CONTEST
The public can look forward to seeing a bright, spectacular display at Carisbrook to-morrow afternoon, commencing at 2, when the B and 0 grade brass bands and the Highland Pipe Band quickstep contest will be held. The marches for this contest are own choice,” and this should add plenty of variety, with the Highlanders in their gay uniforms. - The bands will assemble at the Queen’s Gardens at 1.15, and will march through town to the Oval, where they will be conveyed by buses to the Carisbrook Ground. The contest will commence at 2 with the 0 Grade Brass Band Contest, and will be followed by the B Grade, concluding with the Highland Pipe Bands, and if time permits massed band displays will also be held. The contest will continue in the evening with the selections at His Majesty s Theatre, commencing at 7 with the C Grade bands contest, own selection, and hymn (own selection). This will be followed by the B Grade brass bands’ test selection, ‘ Songs of Old England ’ and hymn (own selection). The programme will conclude with the Highand pipe band own selection contest.
