French opinion favours a non-inter-vention discussion and a time limit of less than a week, which it is contended is sufficient to show whether Italy sincerely desires to facilitate an agreement. “TRIUMPH FOR ITALIAN POLICY " ROME, October 14. The British decision favouring a nonintervention meeting is welcomed in official circles, which consider it is another triumph for Italian policy. GERMANY OPPOSED TO TIME LIMIT BERLIN, October 13. Officials state that Germany will do everything possible to help a fresh nonintervention effort, but the proposed time limit is regarded as ridiculous, and in view of the difficulties will need thorough examination. REPUBLICANS ATTACK ON ARAGON FRONT INTERNATIONAL TROOPS ENGAGED. ' LONDON, October 13. The Bilbao correspondent of ‘ The Times’ says: “The long-expected Republican offensive in Aragon was launched with 200,000 men, including international troops and picked Spanish storm troopers, supported by 500 tanks, 200 aeroplanes, and ample artillery, on a 250-kilometre front. Fighting is proceeding from Jaca to Tereul. The insurgents claim that they defeated Republican aerial attacks at Saragossa, bringing down 24 bombers and nine fighters.” REPULSE OF ATTACK CLAIMED INSURGENTS CAPTURE TANKS. SALAMANCA, October 14. ((Received October 15, at 11.15 a.m.) The insurgents claim to have repulsed the terrific Republican offensive on the Aragon front and to have captured 16 tanks. The occupation of eight villages is claimed on the Asturian front. BARCELONA BOMBED BARCELONA, October 14. (Received October 15, at 11.5 a.m.) Aircraft from the Balearics again bombed Barcelona. There was heavy damage and many casualties. MAOMD-GUENCA RAILWAY FOREIGN PRISONERS FORCED TO WORK. VALENCIA, October 14. (Received October 15, at 11.30 a.m.) The northern Republican commander says the town of Infiesto was savagely bombed by insurgent aircraft. A hundred houses were destroyed and many people were killed. Batches of Italian and German prisoners have been released from gaols and forced to work on the building of the Madrid-Cuenca railway. NON-INTERVENTION COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN’S SUB-COMMITTEE TO MEET ON SATURDAY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 14, (Received October 15, at 11 a.m.) A meeting of the chairman’s subcommittee of the International Nonintervention Committee has been called for Saturday. The French and British representatives will make full statements of the attitudes of their Governments regarding foreign intervention in Spain. The countries represented on the subcommittee are Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Portugal, Sweden, and Czechoslovakia.
