WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR AND MILD The following weather forecast wai issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southorn districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmen, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, River* ton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay;—* 'An intense anti-cyclone is now centred over the east central portion or; the Tasman Sea and envelops the Dominion! Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, but northerlies prevailing in the far south, and gradually becoming -general. Weather fair and milder, but later clouds increasing, and showers developing in the western and southern portions. Seas flight to moderate. A MARKED IMPROVEMENT. A marked improvement in condition* was noticeable in Dunedin thig morning, bright sunshine making its appearance early, while temperatures were rising steadily at midday, when tlie sky was lightly overcast and a < west-south-westerly breeze was in evidence. Barometric pressure at this; time was rising _ at 30.25 in, while tha> respective maximum and ✓ minimum temperature readings were 50 . and 44deg. There was no frost last evening nor rainfall yesterday, while the respective temperature readings . over a period of 24 hours were 52 and 41.5 deg. Promise of a most pleasant afternoon was given at 1 p.m.
