AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS NEW COUTH WALES BEATEN SYDNEY. August 9. The hockey championships were continued 1 o-di'iy, the results being ns follow : Victoria defeated Tasmania by G goals to 2 Queensland defeated New South Wales Gy 1 goal to 0. Western Australia defeated South Australia by 4 goals to 1, OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the executive of the Otago Association was held last night. Air U. H. Mnlhollancl occupied the chair. The Umpires’ Association nominated Alessrs T. .11. Mullmllaml and AV. Al'Qiiccn as umpires for the match against Canterbury on August 28, and Alessrs T. N, Binder, A. Chapman, 11. Pickup, and Dr Alonheimer for the games against Eastern Districts on the same date. —A pprovod. ' Arrangements for the matches between Otago and Canterbury and Otago and Eastern Districts were discussed, and it was decided to play these fixtures at the Oval. Travelling arrangements in connection with the visit to Invercargill on August 21 of Otago senior and junior representative teams wore referred to the Emergency Committee. Air E. D. Brown was nominated as manager of the two teams, but the final appointment of manager and umpires was hold over in the meantime.. Permission was granted for the Dunedin Technical School A to play Christchurch Technical School A at the Oval on August 20, and for Dunedin School A to travel to Invercargill on August 17 to plav Invercargill Technical School A.
