SHAKESPEARE CLUB
The Dunedin Shakespeare Club, now celebrating its sixtieth anniversary, lias always received generous support in its readings from a public which realises the unique place in the am nals of drama that Shakespeare occupies. For this jubilee year, particularly popular plays have been selected for presentation, and for to-morrow’s reading that favourite comedy of all time, ‘ A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ has been chosen. The comedy scenes in which the Athenian artisans rehearse and present their play, the tangled story of the youthful lovers, and the poetical beauty of the scenes between Oberon and Titania are alike appreciated wherever the English language is spoken. The reading will be presented by a strong cast, including some who are making their first appearance in Shakespeare reading. During the evening Miss Muriel Eagar will sing ‘ 1 Am Tilauia,’ from the opera ‘ Mignoju.’
