AMATEUR BOXING
LSBTER TO APPEAR An outstanding attraction at the Otago amateur boxing championships to-nigh,f will, be the,appearance, ot-W. Lister dn the' lightbeavy-weight: class in opposition to Cyril Hayes, who. won the Otago heavy-weight title last year and who recently beat the well-known Southland boxer, G. M‘Kay, on a technical knock-out. Lister is a brother of the former New Zealand professional middle-weight champion, Harry Lister, and when the New Zealand amateur championships were held at Dunedin two years ago, W. Lister, representing the Rakaia Association, won the New Zealand light-heavy-weight title. He is a fighter from gong to gong. , T. Denny of Invercargill, who defeated Wes. Jack, of Timaru last week, will figure in the welter-weight class, in which A. D. Wheeler, the Otago' representative, and J. Bates (Balelutha) will also take part. In the light-weight division, N. Jenkin (Oamaru), J. Ramsay, and P. Ruston are competing, and the feather and flyweight classes have also drawn good entries. A number of bouts are also being staged bv the pupils of Christian Brothers’ High. School. Full particulars are advertised.
