Austin, addressing Hull Rotarians, said he had received much abuse, chiefly by letter, because he wore shorts. “Long,trousers for tennis are foolish,” he said. “Tennis to-day is a strenuous game. I see no reason why players should go on the courts as if they were going to a garden fete.”
