SCHOOL DEBATE
SOUTHLAND AND OTAGO HIGH 80H00L8 The- subject for the first debate between the Southland and Otago Boys’ High Schools, which Was held in the assembly hall of the Southland Boys’ High School, was ‘ That Britain is Being Repaid for Her Development of an Empire.’ The affirmative was taken by Southland, the teams being as follow :—Southland: D. W. Crowley (leader), N. F. Gilkison, W. R. Mayhew. and E. W. Watkins. Otago; R. 6. Mathieson (leader), R. G. Calvert, D. I. Chisholm, and J. D. Fnedlander. The judge (Mr J. Tait), who gave his decision in favour of _ Southland, said he thought the subject was a rather wide one for a debate. Ho added that the winning team was the more experienced of the two.
