COMMUNITY SINGING
Despite the unfavourable conditions, a large audience rewarded the efforts of the Dunedin Community Sing Committee at the Strand Theatre at midday. Three soloists —Miss Freda Dimes, Mr R. Pettitt, and Mr H. P. Desmoulins—added greatly to the success of the sing. Miss Dimes sang ‘ Within a Milo of Edinburgh Town,’ and as an ■encore 4 Lovo Will Find a Way.’ In response to a request,' Mr Desmoulins gave ‘ Rose Marie,’ while Mr R. Pettitt played ‘ Liebesfrud ’ and ‘ Humoresque ’ as violin solos. Mr Desmoulins led the audience through popular old and new songs, and was capably assisted by Messrs J. Himburg, Harry Marsden, and A. Pettitt. The collection amounted to almost £22.
