Grievances which the Auckland tramway employees consider they have with, the Auckland Transport Board were ventilated at a meeting of the Auckland Labour Representation Committee last week. A resolution was carried favouring setting up a committee of three “ to inquire into the unlabour-like attitude of the board and the existing relationships between the hoard add the Tramway Union.” It is understood that several members of the Transport Board, including the chairman (the Hon. _H. 6. R. Mason), attended the meeting and that Mr Mason addressed the meeting and answered questions. A committee of investigation has been set up comprise ing Mr F. G. Young (secretary of the Hotel Workers’ Union), the chairman'; Mr H. Campbell (secretary of the Painters’ Union), and Mr C. Matthews. It is understood that the parties involved in the dispute which has arisen in the inner ranks of the Labour movement will he invited to present their respective cases. Meantime, it is stated, the union is being requested to state its charges in writing. The exact nature of the union’s grievance is not known. When seen thii morning the secretary of the Tramway Employees’ Union (Mr J. Liddell) declined to discuss the matter, '‘f I hate nothing whatever to say,” ho declared.
