The greatest mass formation the Royal Air Force has ever assembled was seen at the air pageant at Hendon, when 260 machines, all of the latest and fastest types, flew past their Majesties in five parallel lines. The fly-past occupied five minutes. The movements of the planes were controlled by wireless. Their Majesties were enthusiastically; welcomed by a record crowd. ' There were 200,000 in the enclosure, and it is estimated that 300,000 watched that display, which included aerobatics, sky fighting, and the bombing of ground targets from surrounding fields.
