The game opened with up-and-down play, but the Varsity forwards soon got going, and at_ half-time the score was 6-0. Training College made spirited efforts to score in the second half, but their attacks always seemed to break down at the edge of the circle. Noticeable for Training College was the constructive play of the centre forward, M'Kelvie, and the solid de-. fence of the goalie, Maslin, who made some great saves. The Varsity halves were not working well together, but the full-backs saved their mistakes Hercus, in goal, had little to do. Goals for Varsity were scored by Lawry (5), Alldred (5), Hubbard (3), Warren (2), Walton (1). The game was controlled by Dr Monnheimer and Mr Finder. T.C.0.8, v. VARSITY B. WKIEH'S GAMES OTAGO v. TRAINING COLLEGE. This game was played on Logan Park, which was in a poor condition for' first-class hockey. The Otago forwards were penalised for off-side far too much. E. Blackwood is still ini dined to wander but is showing a better ■ understanding of the game. A. Thomas, playing right wing, gave quite a good display. The Otago halves played well, feeding the forwards nicely. The Morton sisters again gave a good display as full-backs, D. Brosnan (Otago goalkeeper) not being called on. Training College forwards combined nicely, but found the Otago . defence safe,' N. Cannon, College centre-half, was the pick of the College halves. The College defence had a busy day against the Otago forwards, who missed quite a number of chances. There was no score at half-time, both sides playing very evenly. -The second spell opened with some fast movements, E. Blackwood (Otago centre-forward) scoring the only goal of the match.
