MINISTER SCATTERS SHOWER OF FIGURES HUGE INCREASES IN GARS AND RADIO SETS [Peu United Press Association.] TAUMARUNUI, Juno 25. Mr Langstone, Minister of Lands, opened the Winter Show hero last night, with record entries and attendance. Ho quoted figures showing the development of the Dominion in the past year, comparing the figures with those of tho previous year. _ Tho increase in exports was 10 million pounds, and in imports 10 millions also. There were 266 more factories, and production was £10,500,000 more; also, 7.000 more people were employed. Industries paid £1,500,000 more wages, and the wages bill for the whole Dominion for the past two years increased by £19,000,000. Tho Public Works were employing 22.000 men as against 13,000 a year ago; the Railways were employing 3,300; the Post and Telegraph 1,000 more. Seventeen thousand more pensioners were receiving two million pounds more than the previous year. All of this was increasing the purchasing power. There were 27,000 more motor cars sold this year than the previous year, and for the month of April this year more motor vehicles were sold than in tho whole year of J 933. There were 49,000 more radios than a year ago. Mr Langstone met a large gathering of Natives at Kakapi yesterday, when they unanimously agreed to hand over 10.000 acres of land for the Native settlement development scheme.
