NO REAL DANGER
PARACHUTIST DEPRECATES MESSAGE SOMEONE INTERFERED WITH PROTECTION FLAP [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Jfinc. 25. “ There was no question of any possibility of fatal results to my .jump,” declared the young New Zealand parachutist, G. AY. Sellars, referring to the Press Association report from Christchurch stating that as he was about to jump from tho aeroplane at AVigram aerodrome on Field Day he found that part of the parachute was already streaming out behind him. Sellars said to-day that although he had found that portion of the parachute apparently had been tampered with, it was not enough to cause great danger. “Actually the parachute protection flap had been opened by somebody—l don’t know who—while I was on tho ground,” said Mr Sellars.„ “ This flap fastens over the ripcord to prevent tho cord being pulled out accidentally. AVc had checked over the parachute, watched by two policemen, and I left for a few minutes to speak to the secretary, Mr Climiq. Tho flap must have been opened while I was away. It was really a trivial matter as far as any danger to mo was concerned.”
