AUCKLAND DRAINAGE
SOUTHERN AREA SCHEME INVOLVES £1.564,000 [Pee United Peess Association.] AUCKLAND. June 23. The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board' to-night adopted a comprehensive scheme for the drainage of the .southern area of the metro politau district with treatment works and outfall at Brown’s Island. This scheme, which will ultimately involve an expenditure of £1.504,000, was recommended by the secretary-engineer (Mr H. H. Watkins) in a report presented to the board in December, 1931, following a lour abroad, during which he, examined and studied every known method of sewage disposal. The chairman of the board (Sir Ernest Davis) said the decision to proceed with the scheme marked a momentous stage in the drainage history of Auckland.
