Mr Justice Kennedy returned from Christchurch by this 'afternoon’s express. Major A. B. Williams, D. 5.0., R.N.Z.A., arrived from Christchurch last night and left this morning for Sutton, to attend the camp of the 9th, 10th, and 16th Batteries, Mr J. Sutherland Ross left thia morning for Auckland. Inspector J. Ladder, of the Police Department, wrs a passenger by the express this morning on his way bads to Wanganui. Mr Arthur Geddes. of Wellington, 13 on a short visit to Dunedin., Messrs H Harris and Douglas M. Hanna, who has been acting physical director to the Wellington Y.M.C.A., has now been appointed to tho position of physical director to that association. He is the elder son of Mr J. V. Baddeley, Bishop of Melanesia, who is at present) making a short missionary tour of tho Wellington and Christchurch dioceses, will arrive in Dunedin on Friday nest-. He will return from thera on Sunday night, and leave the following morning for Wellington and Sydney. The staff of Chas. Begg and Co. Ltd. met last evening to bid farewell •to Mr L. W r est, who has purchased a business at Gore. He has been a member of Begg’s staff for the past eleven years. Mr J. Dixon, manager, in making him a presentation of a afternoon tea service, referred to the high regard in which Mr West was held by all. members of staff for bis unfailing courtesy and earnestness.
