COMPETITIONS SOCIETY

ANNUAL REPORT The annual report of the Competitions Society, to be presented at the annual meeting on Tuesday, next states- ’ The past year has been the most important in the history of the society, as a special effort was made to make th© thirty-fifth annual festival the most noteworthy since the inception of the society. A record of 2,640 entries was received, which necessitated the season being extended by a day and engaging three halls. The festival was again held during the school term holidays, and attracted large attendances at all sessions, but, despite the large attendances, owing to the modest prices charged for admission and the generous concessions received by season ticket holders, it is only by careful management that receipts can be made to balance the expenditure, and it would have been impossible to have offered the prizes that were given last festival had it not been for the generosity of those firms and citizens who supplied the prizes for the special attractions included in our last syllabus. To those having the welfare of the society at heart the committee therefore appeals to their generous support throughout the festival, and ,at all times appreciates donations towards the prize fund.
