SHAREMILKERS' REQUEST [PZB U KITED PaESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, April 32. A large deputation of sharemilkers, representing the Auckland, Wellington, and Taranaki districts, which was introduced by the Hon. T. Brindle, M.L.C., and was Jed by Mr C. Gough, waited on the Acting Minister of Labour (Mr Webb) on Tuesday, requesting the early calling of a conference of employers and sharemilkers with a view to reaching standard agreements throughout New Zealand. The Minister gave a very favourable reply, stating that he had no idea that the present conditions of employment for sharemilkers were so bad. The deputation met in a conference, which sat for two days, and finally resolved to form the New Zealand Sharemilkers’ Association, pending the promised legislation, which will give them standing under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act as an industrial union. were elected and organisers were appointed for each district. Mr C. Gough was elected horcrary national secretary. Claims were drawn up providing for two standard agreements throughout New Zealand, and rules were adopted for the newly-formed association. The organisers will begin their duties in their districts immediately.
