VISIT TO AUCKLAND
INVITATION TO OTAGO SWIMMERS Advice has been received that the Eastern Suburbs Amateur Swimming Club has forwarded an official invitation through the Otago Centre for P. E. Mathieson and Miss I. Purdie, both of the Kiwi Club, to compete at carnivals in Auckland on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday. The Auckland Centre is approaching the New Zealand Council for permission to pay the expenses of the swimmers. Mathieson is the holder of the New Zealand 150 yards back stroke championship, and is the New Zealand record-holder for 100 metres, 150 yards, 200 metres, and 400 metres back stroke, and also holds the Australian record for _ 440 yards back stroke. Miss Purdie is the New Zealand intermediate girls’ 100 and 200 yards champion, and holder of tho New Zealand iitermediato girls’ records for both distances.
