EMPLOYERS CONCEDE RISES

NEW OFFER TO CHEMICAL MANURE WORKERS [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, March 13. The employers operating the three chemical manure works in the Otahuhu and Penrose districts affected by the wages dispute, made an amended wages offer at a special Conciliation Council sitting before Commissioner Price last evening. The protposals will be submitted to a special meeting of the men in the Trades Hall to-morrow evening. After a sitting lasting until 10 o’clock the employers conceded two rises on their former offers. Workers who unload sulphur, and bank men were offered bonuses' which would bring the present rates of pay up to 2s 6d per hour. For day work the employers made no alteration on their previous offer of 2s 3d. , Offers of 2s 4|d for chamber men and 2s 4d for continuous and extra shift workers, also remained unaltered. It is hoped that the meeting in the Trades Hall will accept these terms. If so, work will be resumed on Monday.
