WEATHER FORECAST
MAINLY FINE The following weather forecast was issued at _ noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— An anti-cyclone is now approaching across the Tasman Sea, Barometers have risen considerably over New Zealand. Forecast: Light to moderate southerly winds. A few isolated showers probable, but weather mainly fine. Cold night temperatures, with some frosts, but milder to-morrow. Seas, slight to moderate. TEMPERATURES RISE. Last evening, though cold, brought a decided improvement in the general conditions, for the rain had ceased and the chilly wind had dropped. This morning broke fine, with the first bright sunshine for some time, though . obscured at times by the rather overcast sky. Temperatures showed some increase at noon, when the maximum and minimum readings were 55 andi 50deg respectively. Yesterday, over, a twenty-four-hour period, ,01in of rainfall was registered, and 58 and 42.7 deg were the temperatures. A light southwesterly wind prevailed to-day, arid barometric pressure was steady at 29.8 in at noon. Rain this month has totalled 2.01 in, there having been IQ wet days.
