—Ministerial.— The Prime Minister (Right Hon. M. J. Savage) will arrive in Dunedin on. Monday morning. He has accepted an invitation to be the guest of the Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon at .the Somerset Lounge at 12.45 the same day. The Minister of Public Works (Hon. R. Semple) travelled from Te Anau to Queenstown yesterday. He made a trip up Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy and Paradise to-day acccompanied by the Minister of Mines (Hon. P. C. IVebb), who is at present meeting representatives of the mining interests in Central Otago, Dr D. G. M'Millan, M.P., returned from the north this afternoon. Mr W. B. Steel returned yesterday after an extended trip abroad. The resignation of Mr Andrew Messer, ity treasurer, was announced at a meeting of the Auckland City Council last night. The assistant town clerk, Mr T. W. M. Ashby, was appointed to succeed him, and Mr D. L. Robinson, internal auditor and checking officer, was promoted to the position of assistant town clerk. Mr Messer’s resignation, which was rendered necessary by the state of his health, was considered at length by the council in committee, and subsequently in open council the Finance Committee reported that Mr Messer had asked to be relieved of his duties as from March 4. The committee recommended that his resignation bo accepted, and that be be granted 12 months’ leave of adsence on half-pay. Latest arrivals at the Grand Hotel are:—E. P. Burke (London) .Mr H. fl.
