FIFTH TEST HATCH
CARPENTERS CAUSE TROUBLE THREAT TO PICKET GROUND Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MELBOURNE, February 18. Trouble is threatening in connection with the final test match owing to a dispute with the men employed on the new grand stand. A number of carpenters are claiming for lost time during the last test, when they were put off the job during the currency of the match. Their claim amounts to £57 6s, which the Victorian Cricket Association refuses to recognise, contending that it is entirely a matter for the contractor. The men’s union threatens to invite all unionists to boycott the final test and picket the ground.
