FAVOURABLE BALANCE WITH AMERICA DENIED STATEMENT BY MINISTER Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright CANBERRA, February 17. (Received February 18, at 11 a.m.) Sir Henry Gullett (Minister for Trade Treaties) states that_ trade between Australia and the United States for the six months ended December 31 did not show a favourable balance, as has been stated. Australian exports included gold and gold specie, which were not taken into ’the trading accounts between countries. “ The new position, however, ’’ said Sir Henry Gullett, “ shows a refreshing improvement upon the average balances of recent halfyearly periods.”
