FATAL FALL FROM CYCLE; An. inquest was held yesterday afterxoon into the death of Sylvia Douglas Wilkinson, aged 23 years, who died on Tuesday morning following a fall from ler bicycle the previous day. Evidence of identification was given iy Leonard Wilkinson, father of the deceased. Daphne Jessie Simpson, dressmaker, stated that at about 6 _p.ni. on Monday she left her home in Cumberland street with the deceased. Both \tere riding bicycles, and they rode out to Woodhaugh. On the way' back as they neared the corner of George street and Duke street, the deceased drew in to the side of the roadway as if to stop beside the telephone box. She put out her hand to rest against it, and appeared to slip and fall, striking the back of her head on the road. A passerby conveyed her to her home. Chester Manah Pike, student, gave evidence of the girl’s condition after she had been brought home. Dr James Fitzgerald stated that he had been called to attend the deceased*on Monday night, and at that time her condition did not appear to be serious. Apparently it changed later, hut he was not informed, and death took place the following morning. He examined the body and gave his .opinion that death was due to. cerebral hsemorrhage. The coroner (Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.), that this wins Si: type of concussion which occurred from time to time. The condition did not appear at first to he serious* but evidently there had been some intercranial damage and a hsemorrhage had taken place. He returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence* INFANT’S DEATH. Graham Harvey Andrews, aged seveai months, died suddenly at the home of his parents, at 52 Signal- Hill road; yesterday afternoon, while .being fed in a’ perambulator. A post-mortem examination was made this_ morning, and an inquest was held this afternoon. CAR FALLS 40 FEET. A Whakatane Association message states that while travelling on the road between Waihau Bay and Cape Runaway last evening a car driven by J. W. Neilson left the road, turned eyes several times, and landed on the beach 40ft below. Neilson received chest injuries. He was attended by Dr Budd, but his injuries, were so senous that he could not be removed to OpotiH Hospital, FOUND HANGING. A Whangarei Association message states that Stanley Frederick . deal (about 31), a farm hand, was found dead this morning, suspended from the rafter of a garage at* the rear of a private hotel. He had used a lengti of electric lighting flex as a cord.
