SECURED BY BRITISH FIRM CONSTRUCTION OF NILE SLUICE GATES. (British Official Wireless.) Proa* Association —By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, February 12. The British engineering firm of Ransomes and Rapier, of Ipswich, has secured from the Egyptian Government a £lo,ooo'contract for the construction of ifluico gates on the new Mohammed Aljf barrage, which is being built at a cost of £2,250,000, at the junction of the Nile, north of Cairo. Ninety-four pairs of sluice gates and six poweroperated machines of special design for use with the gates are to be built. The worth will extend over three .years, and begin within the next few months.
