FISHING LAUNCH MISSING
WRECKAGE FOUND [Per United Press Association.] NELSON, February 13. Anxiety Ls felt for ’ the safety of S.L, Smith, a fisherman, who left Nelson on Wednesday morning in, the fishing launch Hekekeuui, and has not returned. He 'was last seen off Kaiteriteri by' Cedric Edmondson at 12.20 p.m. on Wednesday. When Edmondson left Smith was then drawing in his lines. He was fo.ur miles off shox*e. The weather was thick with a slight northwest swell. The launch is 22ft long and is painted white with a slatecoloured deck, and. installed with a 4 h.p. engine. Smith was wearing a blue woollen jersey, denim trousers, and gum boots. Later reports state that parts of the launch have been found on the sea side of Haulnshore Island, and some of the equipment, such as lines and the boom, have been identified by fishermen as belonging to Smith’s launch. These were found on the boulder bank near the lighthouse. The seai'clx is being continued.
