CAVERSHAM CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I read that Cr Batchelor is agreeable to give a piece of the Caversham children’s playground to the local bowling, club, and that Mr R. H. Todd agrees with him. Mr Todd is a member of the bowling club, and is playing into his club’s hands. Cr Batchelor, as chairman of the Reserves Committee, ought to be very proud of the condition of this ground. The kindergarten openair school and tennis club have all had a good slice off this ground, and I hoar the tennis club wants another court. Poor children! They are in the road of these “ sports.” Could we not have a meeting to protest against this, and oven petition Parliament, as 1 am sure they would give the children fair play? Did not the late Mr Mark Cohen, with help of a public subscription, buy this ground for the children, and not as Cr Batchelor says? I hope Mr Todd, when he gets the bowling green finished, will not put up an eyesore of a fence like that of the tennis club, so tbat v passers-by will not see players on Sunday.—l am, etc., Disgusted Pakeni. February 13.
