CUP DAY AT WINGATUI
Against all precedent, the Dunedin Jockey Club experienced very bad'weather conditions for its 1937 Cup Day. The fact that the racing had to be put forward a day and that the morning opened with a very heavy shower greatly militated against the large attendance that was confidently expected. Those, however, who journeyed over the hUI to the lovely course at Wingatui were amply rewarded by a good day’s sport, and’also, after the luncheon adjournment, with fine sunshiny weather. Many of the new winter modes were seen, mostly wraps or smart suits worn with furs. The advance styles in millinery also were popular wear, and very attractive they appeared, with the high crowns and smart feather mounts of the 1937 season.
