BETTER OFF BEFORE
NEW AWARD NOT WANTED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 12. An unusual position arose at a meeting of the Makara County Council to-day, when the permanent employees of th© council submitted a proposal for new conditions of work. The employees were recently granted a new award, and it is understood the conditions suggested in the new proposal are similar to those obtaining before th© award came into force. It is stated that so far as the men were concerned they were in many respects decidedly better off under the old conditions than under th© new award. It was decided to accept the new proposals and to instruct th© employees to make application to the authorities concerned.
