LORD ISLINGTON'S DEATH
[Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, December 9. The following message was despatched by the Governor-General (Viscount Galway) to Lady Islington in connection with the death of her husband: — “ The people of New Zealand have learned with profound sorrow of the death of your husband, whose personal qualities and achievements as Governor they have always held in affectionate remembrance. Lady Galway and I join with them and with the Government of New Zealand in conveying to you deepest sympathy in your great loss.”
The Governor-General has received the following reply from Lady Islington:—“Please convey to the people of New Zealand my sincere thanks for their message of sympathy. My husband had a feeling of affectionate interest in them. I thank your Excellency and Lady Galway for your kind message of sympathy.”
