MACANDREW ROAD SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the committee for December was attended by Messrs H. K. Ross (chairman), R. Pinder, E. Bennett, C. Millar, C. Sehrick, H. Hunt, W. Butcher, and P. G. Connolly. The head master’s report gave the total roll as 548, there being 532 in the main school and 16 in the side school. The average attendance for the month was 95.15 per cent. The school had been visited by the school nurse re those children eligible to enter the Christmas health camp. Dr M'llraith, chief inspector, of primary schools, had also visited the school, and was impressed with the radio and projector installations. The latter was demonstrated and full particulars were taken by Dr MTlwraith for the Education liepartment. The consignment of seed potatoes had arrived and been planted. The school gardens were well advanced and the seeds planted for the school exhibit at the Winter Show, 1937, were making satisfactory progress. During the month the school concert had been held at the South Dunedin Town Hall, standing room only being available. The staff and the members of the committee thanked the parents for attending in such numbers and making the concert an outstanding success. • The annual break-up ceremonies will he held on Thursday, December 17— at the school gymnasium, the infant classes, at 1.30 p.m.; and Standards I. and 11. at 2.30 p.m.: at the South Dunedin Town Hall, at 7.30 p.m., Stan dards 111.. IV., V., and VI. Tentative arrangements for the school picnic were made, and it is hoped to have this function at Wingatui during next. Accounts amounting to £24 15s Id were passed for payment.
