FINE PROGRAMME FCI STRAND ‘ The Story of Temple Drake,’ which will commence a season at the' Strand on Friday, tells of a girl who refuses the offer of marriage of an attorney she loves because she fears she will ruin his life, and drives off with a drunken college boy in search of more liquor. . Their ride ends in a crash, from which they emerge to find themselves virtual prisoners of a big city gangster in a remote country hide-away. He sends the hoy back to town, kills the only man who tries to protect the girl, and carries her off with him, The attorney in love with her is assigned to defend the man falsely accused of the murder. In his search for evidence, he finds the girl with the gangster. The events that follow bring the film to a startling climax. The second picture, ‘ Man Hunt,’ concerns the pursuit of an escaped bank robber by Federal agents, and the part taken in it by a smalltown reporter and his sweetheart,- s school teacher ; the big city newspaperman and a doddering, romancing exsheriff. There is a large cast, which is headed by Ricardo Cortez, Marguerite Churchill, William Gargan, and' Charles (Chic) Sale.
