MR STANLEY BALDWIN
WEARY OF CONSERVATIVE ATTACKS PRESTIGE BEING UNDERMINED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 30. The ‘ Daily Herald’s ’ political correspondent says: “ Mr Baldwin is weary of the continual Conservative attacks. Although he has said nothing publicly, he bitterly resents the speeches of Mr Chamberlain, Mr Duff-Cooper, and the Matquess of Londonderry, which have had the effect of undermining his prestige. He felt most keenly the attacks on Mr Eden and threatened his resignation if Mr Eden resigned. Unless the Conservatives restore his authority, Mr Baldwin may retire from politics and leave events to take their own course, involving the Cabinet in a breaking up.” EXPECTED m LDHDDH DN THURSDAY RUGBY, June 29. The Prime Minister (Mr Baldwin) is remaining at Chequers for a few days to obtain a little relaxation after the heavy work of the last few weeks. He is, nevertheless, keeping in close touch with Downing Street, and will be back in London on Thursday, when he is to speak at a banquet of the City of London Conservative Association.
