TRAVEL BY STOLEN CARS
USED AND ABANDONED [Per United Press Association.] TIMARU, June 30. A ear thief is operating freeiy in the South Island. On Monday a car which was stolen at Ashburton was later found abandoned on the outskirts of Timaru. In the evening a car was stolen in Timaru and to-day was found abandoned in a damaged condition at Herbert. A short time later a . Herbert resident reported that his car had been stolen. The thefts were too close to be a coincidence, and the police are satisfied that they are the work of the same person.
