SOCIAL AND PERSONAL

Australian Society. Last Saturday evening the Australian Society held a most successful evening at the O'.K. Cafe. The room was both cosy and inviting, with a warm fire and tables prettily decorated with chrysanthemums, freesias, and maiden-hair. The president (Mr H. M. Mac Kay) and Mrs Mac Kay were excellent as host and hostess, and made all members and friends welcome on arrival. Mr Mac Kay read an apology from Mr R. S. Black, who was unable to attend, and on behalf of the society extended a warm welcome to new members, also to two visitors from Sydney, Miss O’Carroll and Miss Gleason, and Mr and Mrs Cohen, from Queensland. Dancing and competitions were much enjoyed until midnight, the music being supplied by Mrs Clayton. A vote of thanks was proposed by Signora Steila to her for dance music so generously supplied during the past year, to which all heartily responded.
