ANNUAL MEETING OF COUNCIL NEXT TOURNAMENT AT WELLINGTON [Ebb- United. Press .Association.] WELLINGTON, July 1.. The annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Bowling Association opened to-day. Mr F. J. Good (Christchurch), who presided, said that there was an increase of 659 members. The delegates praised the past executive for its administrative work. The Hon. W. Perry, the new president, assumed his office, being, duly congratulated. It was decided that the Tournament Committee consist of the executive, with such other members, as, they niay appoint. The date for the next tournament, which is to be held at Wellington, was fixed for January 4, the order of play to be the same as last year, the system also to be the same, with the exception that unbeaten sectional winners in the singles will go forward as two-lifers, other sectional winners and ties to go forward as one-lifers, as also all with four wins in any section. On Mr Good’s suggestion, it was decided to give three of five, three, and two guineas respectively. The Christchurch proposal that the playing of unstamped _%r incorrectly stamped bowls be penalised by disqualification in the game played and in all previous games was lost on the voices. PORT CHALMERS CLUB The annual meeting of the above club was held last evening, Mr D. Middleton presiding over a large number of members. The President, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, made feeling reference to the loss the club had sustained by the death of Messrs W. Austin, W. Culbert, and W- Lunn, three members who took a very active part in the affairs of the club. He congratulated the members on having enjoyed a very successful year, and thanked them for_ the courtesy shown to him during his term of office. V . The balance sheet showed a, profit on the year’s workings. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted:—-Im-mediate past president, Mr D. Middleton; president, Mr T. Matheson; vicepresident, Mr P. Jenks; secretary and treasurer, Mr It. Willmott; General Committee Messrs W. Lang, . J. Thompson, J. Chettleburgh, R. Leftwich, P. Smith, E. Adams; Billiard Committee—Messrs E. Adams, P. G. Carter, 0, Middleton, T. Matheson; delegates to centre, Messrs F. Smith and T. Matheson; selector, Mr W. J. Wilson; auditor, Mr J. Emerson. Mr N. Dodds, who joined up in the club when it was formed in 1892 and has always been an active member, was elected a life member in recognition of his long services. In the method of scoring for Saturday matches the delegates were instructed to support the system of last year. Champion of champion doubles was left in the hands of the delegates, the feeling of the meeting being that it; should not interfere with the Saturday matches.

The remit to reduce the number of Saturday matches was opposed. The club resolved to enter six rinks for the incoming year’s interclub matches, and that the usual club ties be played with the addition of the Monday evening umbrella games. Mr Hislop presented a medallion to be competed for by club members.
