RELIGION IN RUSSIA.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sir, —It is rather strange that Christian preachers should attack the only country in, the world that it striving to institute Christian morals. It is said that religion has been suppressed, but surely such a religion ns prevailed in Russia needed suppression. The religion that consents to .a system by which the masses have to endure poverty in order that the few may heap up useless riches as a pastime is not the Christian religion, whether in Russia or New Zealand. What a farce to preach love and brotherhood and practise selfishness and indifference! Is it any wonder that even Christianity is rejected when represented 'ey “ people who have plenty ” to “ people who have poverty?” Such a position should lie pnf right. We eannot expect spiritual revivals until we are willing to practise
Christian morals and abolish selfishness and poverty.—l am, etc., G. A. Herri.no. June 16.
