' EIGHT GIRLS IN A BOAT' FOR STRAND Firmly behoving that many attractive girls do not voluntarily enter a beauty contest, Charles R. Rogers, independent motion picture producer at the Paramount studios in Hollywood, launched a new type of talent search to find the eight girls who essay prominent roles in ‘ Eight Girls in a Boat,' the feature picture to be shown at the Strand on Friday. They were sought among the passengers on excursion boats or ferries in eight largo cities throughout America, in cadi city, 18 girls were selected for screen tests. From each group, a winner was picked and sent to Hollywood. The girls are featured in the cast of ‘ Eight Girls in a Boat.' with Dorothy Wilson. Kay Johnson, and Douglas Alontgomery. The picture tells the dramatic story of Christa Storm, cloistered in an exclusive girls’ school, where stern rules forbid romance. Bolder than the others, she dares break the rule. Her story, her suffering, her punishment and subsequent peace and happiness are the elements in a stirring emotional story.
