150,000 DOLLARS FOR BROADCASTS [Per United Press Association.") AUCKLAND. June 12. Richard Crooks, the leading tenor of the New York Metropolitan Opera Company, is travelling to Australia by the Mariposa with his wife, son, and daughter, and is returning to New Zealand later. Mr Crooks said the Metropolitan Opera had just had its most successful season in history, largely due to the broadcasting of the leading artists in sponsored programmes. For 10 broadcast performances of operas the company received 150,000 dollars.
