LABOUR LAW ENFORCEMENT
ADDITIONAL INSPECTORS [From Ocb Parliament art Reporter.] WELLINGTON. May 25. Hundreds of applications have been received for positions as inspectors of factories, scaffolding inspectors, and shearers’ accommodation inspectors, which are to be filled shortly, with the object of securing more rigid observance of the labour laws. A number of new inspectors are to be appointed, but they will not exceed a dozen, and the final choice will rest with the Public Service Commissioner. Another conciliation commissioner is also to be appointed. At present there are two commissioners—Mr Hally for the North Island and Mr Ritchie for the South Island, but for some months Mr Hally has been prevented from carrying out his duties owing to illness. 1
